According to Another Dead Canary, “Salem and next-door Roanoke are red Virginia. These precincts won’t be blue on election night but if we can turn out some numbers here, it may help turn Virginia blue for the first time since 1964 when Lyndon Johnson won the state.”
Virginians love Mark Warner (Dem), but they’re wavering on Obama for President. If you have friends or relatives who live in Virginia, think about doing some interventon on them.
- First, read this inflamatory commentary about Obama supporters (written by Republican Sam Pierce on the Obama-Nation site) so you know your opposition.
- Then, with these thoughts in mind, take your friends and family by the hand and show them the difference between hate/fear and love/hope.
- If they need a little scripture or if they question Obama’s faith (and many in Virginia do), introduce them to Jim Willis’ articles at Huffington Post, especially “Be Not Afraid.”
- If they’re voting for Obama, make sure they know their polling location. If they don’t have a ride, help them out by calling local Virginia Democratic headquarters to ask about a lift to the polls.
May your force be with you. And, thanks, Another Dead Canary, for your work and for the hope.
