EU Puts Pressure on Microsoft

Puking Unicorn

According to ZDNet today, the European Commission opened a new antitrust probe against Microsoft today to determine whether it unfairly tied its Web browser to the Windows operating system and made it more difficult for rival software to work with Windows.

One complaint was brought by Opera, the Norwegian maker of a Web browser that competes with Internet Explorer (IE). The second complaint was produced by the European Committee for Interoperable Systems, which said Microsoft did not disclose enough interoperability information for a range of products.

Given this news, is it any wonder that we don’t dare hope that Microsoft will change its stripes re: OOXML? You can’t paint a zebra white and pass it off as a unicorn (or something like that).
